MAKE UNDELETABLE AUTORUN FILE IN USB STICK

USB viruses are so common nowadays that one can't simply avoid them. It's only because we have to use our USB sticks frequently throughout the day and most probably on different computers. If your own PC is well protected, you can't expect others' to be clean as well and that's where your USB is going to get infected. In this article, I will try to explain my own simple method of protecting your USB stick.

USB viruses spread by making use of the autorun.inf file present on it. That's because when you click the USB drive icon, this file is executed along with the instructions inside it. So there are two possibilities.

If your USB stick is infected and you open it on a clean PC, chances are that the virus will spread and infect your PC.

If your PC is infected and you insert a clean USB, the virus will copy itself to USB and create autorun.inf so it can get executed next time you open it.

My idea here is to create an undeletable autorun.inf file on your USB stick so the next time it faces some infected PC, the virus won't be able to replace this file thus your USB is protected. The steps are simple and I have made a short video for it. Just watch it and I hope you get the idea.

It's better to watch it in 720p for more clarity. Moreover, this method doesn't give you 100% protection but it can protect you from most of the USB viruses around. If you insert it to some infected PC, no doubt that the virus will copy itself to the USB but atleast it won't be able to replace the undeletable file. So if you insert it to some clean PC and check out the hidden files on it, you'll see different files that are actually viruses. You can then delete them manually.
